Danksgiving

Last Saturday Juana’s Joint set up shop at Danksgiving, a Missouri medical marijuana educational event hosted by F.R.E.S.H. STL Hip Hop curators, “So’n’So” and John Harrington.

“We hope that people leave Danksgiving with a better understanding of how to apply for jobs in this new industry,” So’n’So expressed to us prior to the event. “We also want to help them find the right dispensary for their needs, and help them better understand the benefits of having a medical marijuana card. Plus, we’d like for everyone to have a great time meeting like minded people and discover some of the great artists that we have right here in St. Louis.”

The event was the first of many to come, and cultivated a much needed environment for industry and legacy to fuse their respective attributes.

“We plan on doing quarterly events that will include more artists from a variety of music genres, as we connect and educate people on the benefits of medical marijuana here in Missouri,” says So’n’So.

Last weeks event included performances by Jerei, KV The Writer, Sir Eddie C, Nate Wulf, Kid E. and more. It was sponsored by Swade Cannabis and The Midwest Avengers; and was hosted by DJ No Signal and Super Green.

Vendors included CannAbyss Hub, Jaine, Advocate Associates, Budtalk STL, and yours truly.

“To me, cannabis culture looks like progression. The health benefits alone can debunk a lot of those old myths about gateway drugs - becoming a couch potato; having no ambition in life, etc. Not only can it help eliminate the use of opioids, but it is also a significant game changer in the American justice system,” So’n’So said about cannabis culture in St. Louis.

He went on to say, “There are people still incarcerated for marijuana. Some of which can look out of a prison window right now and see fields of cannabis growing legally, while they are stuck behind the walls for similar or smaller offenses involving marijuana. Something needs to change. It’s very obvious that education about its benefits is a significant part in moving forward. Especially as we move towards recreational use.”
