A Ti De x Oye Diran

A Ti De, meaning we have arrived, is a project lead by NYC based photographer, Oye Diran.

“[We have arrived] explores vintage Yoruba fashion from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The aim of this series is to convey and shed light on the richness of cultural fashion during that era, particularly the Iro and buba of the yoruba tribe,” says Diran.

The photographer grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and recalls looking at pictures of his mother and her friends in stylish conventional Yoruba attires - noticing their more contemporary styling of the attires.

Diran sites these “curated memories of his heritage” as inspiration, and uses his ability to capture and evoke raw emotion to bring them to fruition.
